Our friends at @smallbeerpress have a special holiday treat:
We had this box of nearly destroyed books which was beginning to spill over and I decided that instead of just tearing off the covers and recycling the innards (which our lovely town will do) we’d tear up the short story collections and anthologies and include the individual stories with orders. I am hoping that those who receive them enjoy the single stories more than they’re horrified to receive them—tearing the books up has been all too much for at least one intern and the task had to handed over to someone with a stronger constitution!
More on the Small Beer blog. Admittedly, tearing up books seems a sacrilegious way to spend the holidays, but as long as good cheer is being spread…
In production: titles from @pmpressorg @smallbeerpress
Thought I’d give you a peek at a couple of our tantalising upcoming titles. You’ll want to get on our mailing list (see the form over on the left?) to be the first to know when these are released.
There’s only one word for Gary Phillips’ The Jook and that word is fucking cool (you had to believe the Nerd would spice up said word with some Grade-A poop-mouth, am I right?). This fucking beast is just oozing with cool. I haven’t read any other shit from Gary Phillips yet, but if his other books are half as cool as The Jook, you can bet the fucking farm the Nerd’s gonna be on top of that shit toot-sweet.

1. Zanja Awakens Karis — Fire Logic (2002)
Who hasn’t felt the earth move in that first explosive skin-to-skin meeting with a lover? For Zanja and Karis in Laurie J. Marks’ Fire Logic
, the earth not only moves, it actually begins to heal, and I’m not talking about metaphor here. That’s why this scene tops my list of the best lesbian/bi moments in science fiction and fantasy.
